General Questions
Check in is usually from 15:00. If you want early check in, please call the reception the same morning of your arrival to check availability.
Check out is before 12:00. Late check out is possible upon request depending on availability.
Yes, breakfast is always included in your stay with us. Breakfast is served in the restaurant at the following times:
Monday-Friday 07:30-10:00
Saturday-Sunday 07:30-10:30
Earlier breakfast is available on request.
There is a small convenience store in the nearest village, Rafsbotn. The store is called Coop. It is open every day.
We have 1 Superior room on the first floor that is accessible by wheelchair.
Superior Double Room
Our Wellness Lounge contains a sauna, relax room, showers and an outdoor jacuzzi. The lounge can be booked for a 2 hours private session.

Activities
We recommend booking your desired activities with us before your arrival to ensure that you get a spot on the tours during your stay. Otherwise, we will help you find available activities during your stay at the reception.
Winter Activities
Summer Activities
We recommend that you bring appropriate clothing suitable for winter. Materials like wool is the warmest.
We will provide snowsuits and boots for all the activities you book with us.
This is also available for rent for 400 NOK per day.
What to wear in the Arctic climate.
We sell wool underwear from Janus at the lodge. Please contact us if you are interested in buying this in advance. Otherwise, this is available for purchase at the reception upon arrival.
If you do not want to bring the wool underwear back home, we offer to buy it from you, and resell it as a used item for a reduced price.
This way, we reduce the waste of textiles.
We kindly encourage pregnant guests and individuals with any disabilities to assess their own comfort and capabilities when deciding whether to participate in our activities.
While we are happy to provide detailed information about what each activity involves, the final decision ultimately rests with the individual.
All activities are clearly described on our website to help guests make an informed choice. Should they decide to join, we will do everything we can to ensure the experience is as safe, comfortable, and enjoyable as possible.
Travel & Directions
Alta Airport is only a 20 minute drive from the lodge. You can reach Alta by several different airlines directly from Oslo or Tromsø.

If you are arriving by car from Alta:
Follow E6 towards Hammerfest from Alta, after about 15 kilometers you will reach a small village called Rafsbotn. Continue 1-2 km and you will eventually see the sign with Bjørnfjell Mountain Lodge. Follow the dirt road another 2 km, and you will find the lodge.
The lodge is located about 20 km from Alta city centre. It takes about 25 minutes to drive.
The mountain lodge is open for all seasons!
Yes, we do offer our staying guests transfers to and from the airport or other hotels in Alta.
Please contact us in advance to book the transfer.
We have a parking lot in front of the lodge, and parking is free of charge.
An EV charger is also available for an extra cost – please contact the reception for more information about the charging.
Restaurant
Yes, we have one restaurant in the main lodge where we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Yes, our menus are based on locally sourced ingredients and traditional Norwegian dishes.

The restaurant is open for lunch during winter from 12:00-15:00. Dinner is open from 17:00-21:00.
During low season lunch must be booked in advance.
We offer both vegetarian and vegan options on our menu. We are also happy to accommodate allergies and dietary requirements — please inform us at the time of booking.
