LIFE AMONG THE REINDEER HERD

Into the Heart of Sámi Reindeer Herding

Step into the world of Spierttanjárga and experience Sámi reindeer herding from within. Be welcomed into the daily life of the reindeer herders, meet the herd and discover generations of tradition, knowledge and a profound connection to the Arctic landscape.

See below menus and photo gallery for more information and details about the experience.

What can you expect?

Join us on an authentic journey into the Arctic landscape and the everyday life of a Sámi family in Brenna.
From Bjørnfjell Mountain Lodge, you will travel through spectacular fjords, mountains, and plateaus before being welcomed into a traditional lavvo for a homemade lunch with reindeer meat from the family’s own herd. Around the fire, stories of traditions, nature, and life as a reindeer herder are shared.
Continue by snowmobile onto the mountain plateau to meet a herd of several hundred reindeer, take part in feeding them, and gain insight into the living traditions behind reindeer herding.
The day ends with coffee, a Northern Lights possibility on the return journey, and a three-course dinner at Bjørnfjell Mountain Lodge inspired by the places you have visited.
